KINDERGARTEN
Our youngest grades don’t just learn about Judaism – they experience it through creative discovery. Every session incorporates singing,
storytelling, and hands-on activities, inspiring our children with the
wisdom of our ancestors and to build a community of family and friends within our Temple home.
Students learn fun and inspirational songs in Hebrew and English, the Sh’ma, the blessings over food and drink, and receive an introduction to
God and prayer. Every week, students have the opportunity to experience and add to the joy of communal prayer. Through energetic services with their peers, they will be introduced to
the melodies and prayers they will learn at each stage of their Hebrew education. These services also give our
children the confidence and experience to participate in and help lead Shabbat and holiday services at Temple Adat Shalom.
In Torah studies, the students will learn the story of Creation, Noah's Ark, Moses and Matriarchal and Patriarchal stories. They will also celebrate the Jewish holidays and Shabbat, creating ritual objects filled with personal meaning. They will focus on learning the Jewish Values: Tzedakah (sharing), Tzaar Baalei Chayim (Taking Care of Nature – Kindness to Animals), and Kibud Av v’Em (Honoring Mom and Dad – Elders).
In Hebrew our students will learn the aleph bet and the vowels "AH/AY." By the end of the year, they will be able to read simple sentences using these vowels. They will also be able to be engage in a simple Hebrew conversation,
