San Diego City Attorney Mara Elliott will discuss the efforts of her office to prevent gun violence.  Gun violence has become all too common in today’s society.  Deadly mass school shootings, such as Columbine, Sandy Hook, Marjorie Stone Douglas, Virginia Tech, and University of Idaho, and deadly mass non-school shootings, such as at a Buffalo supermarket last year and in Las Vegas five years ago, bring national headlines.  The city of Chicago has averaged about 700 homicides and 3,000 shootings annually over the last three years.  That does not include the deadly shootings at Pittsburgh's Tree of Life Synagogue and at Poway Chabad.  Come to our February brunch to become educated on local efforts to reduce gun violence.
