There are three strong youth groups at Temple Adat Shalom:
  • Kadima - for 4th and 5th graders
  • Juniors - for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders
  • TASTY - for 9th through 12th graders
Youth Group activities usually take place following religious school, except for TASTY which coordinates and plans it's own events at a time convenient for high school students. Each group has an a fun activity about every six weeks and, in addition, sometimes the youth groups participate in all-synagogue events, such as Mitzvah Day.

Temple Adat Shalom believes that we produce the strong leaders for tomorrow by building strong bonds of friendship today. So if you enjoy hanging out with other Jewish kids and you’re looking for some awesome experiences, please join us! Remember there is no commitment when you join the group. Our policy is: "The door is always open!"

About Our Youth Group Director
Jenna Barocas is a young and vibrant individual who recently relocated to San Diego. Having been born and raised in the Los Angeles Jewish Community, Jenna was actively involved in the B'nai B'rith Youth Organization. Throughout Jenna's high school career she held a number of chapter and regional board positions through the B'nai B'rith Youth Organization. Jenna also became an international chairwoman and attended a number of international summer programs through the B'nai B'rith Youth Organization. Jenna's passion for bettering the Jewish Community expanded as she was invited to participate in the Los Angeles Bureau of Jewish Education. Through the Bureau of Jewish Education Jenna was able to participate in Israel Advocacy courses, community service programs, helping to build a pocket park and the Los Angeles-Tel Aviv Teen Forum. As a high school student, at the Cleveland Humanities Magnet, Jenna learned the importance of social action and public policy. Jenna founded a high school club, entitled A.C.T. (Actively Concerned Teens), in which she sought out fellow classmates looking to make a difference in the world. Another one of Jenna's accomplishments, while in high school, includes becoming a member of the Los Angeles City Youth Council and the Youth Representative for her City Councilman.

Upon Graduating high school, Jenna attended Indiana University and was accepted into the School of Public and Environmental Affairs. Jenna, once again, sought out to get involved in her local Jewish Community by being accepted to participate in the Jewish Freshman Interest Group (F.I.G.) as well as taking a lively role in the campus Hillel. For two semesters Jenna took leadership courses through Hillel and helped organize Hillel's annual fundraiser. Due to extenuating circumstances Jenna opted to return home from Indiana during the beginning of her sophomore year. Jenna transferred to Los Angeles Pierce College and ultimately graduated from CSU Northridge. During her time in school, back home, Jenna volunteered at her local Elementary School in the Kindergarten classrooms and attended the CSUN Chabad events regularly. Jenna graduated CSUN in December 2010. Throughout Jenna's CSUN career she also worked as an Organization and Money Management Coach for families and individuals needing assistance reorganizing their finances.

Following her graduation, Jenna and her boyfriend, Justin Ross, sent themselves on a Mediterranean Cruise that took them to Italy, Greece, Turkey, Croatia and Montenegro. Upon their first night in Venice, Italy her boyfriend proposed on the Rialto Bridge and the couple became engaged. Once they returned home from the cruise the couple relocated to San Diego where they decided to start their lives together. In addition to Temple Adat Shalom's Youth Director, Jenna also works part time at the Jewish Federation of San Diego as an Administrative Assistant to the Jewish Community Relations Center.

Jenna is extremely excited for the position of Youth Director at Temple Adat Shalom and hopes to make a positive difference in the lives of these children. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Jenna at 818-516-6158 or by email at .
