In honor of Chanukah, the Festival of Lights, we invite you to be one of the many members of Temple Adat Shalom to take this one
easy action -- to install an energy efficient, cost effective compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulb to reduce greenhouse gas
emissions.CFLs use up to 75% less energy than incandescent light bulbs, while lasting approximately eight times longer. This means less production of greenhouse gas emissions, air pollution, and toxic waste. The average CFL will save its owner at least $55 in energy costs over the lifetime of the bulb! Your CFL will pay for itself in energy savings within two to three months (If every U.S. household replaced one bulb with a CFL, it would have the same impact as removing 1.3 million cars from the road. You can get these light bulbs anywhere---Albertson's, Costco, Sears, Home Depot, or order them online from Energy Star. So change your light bulbs, and then tell us about it!!! Fill out the easy form below and tell us your name and how many CFLs your household has installed. Include any changes you have made since Yom Kippur, and invite friends and family members to change theirs and tell us about it as well. The count will be updated on a weekly basis. As a community, we can make a huge difference! Click here to read a paper detailing cost, environmental concerns, and disposal of compact fluorescent lighs. |
